Week without pesticides

There are some details in La Nouvelle République today about a week without pesticides and highlighting the damage they have done to bees and other pollinators and how the bee population has been decimated over the past five years. The article points out that a week's abstinence from pesticides is all very laudable but what is the use of a week for butterflies and other insects hit by pesticides? Their use needs to be eradicated. Although many say that they are against insecticides, sales continue to be buoyant. ‘What happens if the bee is irreplaceable? is the report’s worrying final thought. Details in the section on Loir et Cher.

200k on A85!

A85 autoroute

The NR also reports that a motorist from Fontainebleau was stopped by the police on the A85 autoroute at Mareuil-sur-Cher doing nearly 200 km/h (124 mph) on Thursday evening. He had his driving licence confiscated on the spot and will soon be up before the court in Blois. I don’t suppose he could have been late for an appointment at the Clos Roche Blanche!
