Couple of recent Loire bottles – AC Touraine and Bourgueil

2005 Les Blottières, Bourgueil, Nau Frères

A couple of bottles here that we have enjoyed over the past couple of days. The 2005 Bourgueil from Nau Frères is very soft with its black fruits ready to drink. It perhaps lacks a little freshness.

2009 Les sauterelles, Touraine Sauvignon, Lionel Gosseaume

This 2009 Touraine Sauvignon from Lionel Gosseaume has developed into a nicely mellow mouthful with a yellow plum character and slight vegetal overtones but not at all aggressive. Shows that some Touraine Sauvignons can develop well with a few years in bottle as well as pointing up the richness of the 2009 vintage.
