Noah comes to Epeigné-les-Bois!

Almost continuous heavy rain since around midday on Sunday has caused the Epeigné-les-Bois' plan d'eau to overflow and make the D81 between Epeigné and Cère-la-Ronde impassable.

The heavy rain has caused flooding and with some landslips in Chissay and Loches and elsewhere.

Afternoon 30th May 2016
Water starting to rise..... our neighbours' pond overflows

8am 31st May 2016
Water increasing in water meadows:

Geese or swans in centre of picture enjoying the conditions

9am 31st May 2016
Water rising quickly in the water meadow – now up to the D81 to Céré la Ronde.

Water flowing rapidly down the Chezelles stream
and nearly up to the height of the bridge

Around 11am 31st May 2016:
Roads flooded

The plan d'eau has burst its banks
one of the reasons why it was built was to control flooding
but this rain has been exceptionally heavy and prolonged

Water flowing over the road – D81

 Children's play area flooded

 Epeigné's mayor drives cautiously
over the flooded road

Christian Percevault (Mayor) and Michel Mergot (Deputy Mayor)
meet to assess the situation

No longer a road (D81) but part of a river
(above and below)

The flooded allotments – will anything be salvageable
